memories

today my hubby got a gift in the mail...it's the gift of memories....
he remembers as a small boy , his dad brought home a star for
the top of the christmas tree.  he had made it at his shop, brought it
home and put it on the tree.  john remembers wishing they could to
to the store and buy a real star for the top of the tree.   hmmmm oh
the minds of little ones..we don't really understand things like we should..
here we are probably 45 years later..papa's been gone over 10 years now and
the star is now on our tree.....special memories of a loved one gone....special
memories of christmas's gone by....special memories to be made with this star.
a new home, a new tree and new memories to make with our new family
members....i told john next year he can whisper in our little grand
daughters ear and tell her about the star, about her great grandpa she won't ever
know here on earth....she will hear grandpa tell her that his papa made this star, and
that she can help put it on top of the tree with grandpa every year!!!
i'm happy my hubby received this gift in the mail today...
