how do you comfort a distraught mother who has lost her little girl? a patient of mine this week came in for her appt. she lost her 3 year old little girl brooklynn almost a year ago to a vicious dog attack. all i could see was sorrow......it's still with me and i can't shake the dispare i feel when i think of her loss.... what do you say???? how do you comfort????

That is so....sad. Imagine her pain and sorrow.
How sad.. It seems like you always hear things like that in the dentist office....
Pam, after losing Tristan in March, I know that it is comforting just to let people hear what a wonderful child he was. Your listening to your patient is the best help ever. Losing a child is hard, but, feeling like they are fogotten is even harder. Talking about them, helps.
