seven was heaven

emerald lake state park: summers in vermont......oh how fun they were..we went with my nana and pop...my cousin cheryl came one year...we hiked, swam, fished, played in the woods....the best part was my mom....she hated it cause it rained most of the time we were there...it didn't matter which week my dad picked ...it rained....and we stayed in a lean-to so it was a three sided building and we strung a tarp up to the front of it....we had tents soaked...wet shoes....and my mom would cry in the car trying to stay dry...she'd want to go home and we out-voted her each time.....a few other things i love thinking about were popping popcorn, dropping a few pieces and the skunks would walk up under our chairs and munch it....we would whittle small sticks and stick them in the fire so they would get red on the end...then sit around and pretend we were smoking....there was a covered bridge that i hiked with my nana and pop one day....i'd get in the car with my pop and we'd go get wood for the nights fire....the lady who came around every morning with her truck full of doughnuts, fresh eggs, bread and newspapers....the tree shaped like a camel....the frog richie had caught and made jump off his head....the night walks with flashlights to the potty....ice cream in town....the marble factory....all things that i loved and will remember always....
